Canoe Restaurant, the favorite dining site for many Metro Atlantans, is the fourth highest grossing restaurant in Atlanta. The beautiful gardens that abut the banks of the Chattahoochee, coupled with award winning great cuisine, are the primary reasons for its popularity.

Vinings on the River shopping Center is the only multi-tenant commercial building on the River in the Atlanta area.

The original building built in 1945 housed a night club and event venue known as Robinson’s Tropical Gardens. People brown bagged their spirits to get ginned up to dance to the latest hits of the Big Band era.

BFK Co. purchased the property in 1988 when the then restaurant Patio on the River was owned by long time Atlanta restauranter, Mary Hattaway. BFK Co subdivided the 12,000 square feet building into the 6,000 sf restaurant space and created 3 more suites from the remaining 6,000 ft.

In 1989 BFK Co. built the second building on the property adding 10,000 sq ft that would provide the storefronts for 5 more tenants. George McKerrow, who founded Longhorn Steaks, along with famed chef Gerry Klaskala and Ron San Martin opened Canoe in 1995 They put in the beautiful landscaping that has been the setting for many marriage proposals and outdoor events.

Vinings on the River is one of the most unique properties in the State of Georgia.
